prohibition-ends1We know that the United States Constitution is a document with built-in provision for change.  That’s what all of these amendments are for in the first place.  Rarely, though, has this been on display as rapidly as during the 14-year swing between the passage of Prohibition in 1919 and its repeal in 1933.  The text of the Twenty-first Amendment is reads (in part):

Section 1. The eighteenth article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.

With it, our national experiment in banning liquor, beer, and wine was over.  Though individual states were still welcome to make whatever laws they wished regarding booze, the United States itself would not get involved.  Prohibition was considered a failure, and over time various state laws too began to change in a more freeing direction.

Marijuana Myths & Facts

Posted on Updated on

therapy and stuff

Given the amount of damage that marijuana is perpetrating on NJ communities and the relatively recent influx of adolescents into addictions treatment as a result of marijuana use, the lax attitude many parents and the general community at large has toward marijuana continues to surprise me.

Marijuana is a drug, it’s dangerous and if your teen is using then it is reasonable to be concerned and take action.

The Office of National Drug Control Policy put out a reallygreat pamphletexposing many common myths about marijuana use.  No. There are no pop culture icons or really cool conspiracy theories referenced ….just science and solid research.

Alcohol is more dangerous than marijuana!!!

Posted on Updated on

In another inch forward for Barack Obama’s stance on marijuana, the U.S. president revealed in a new interview that he finds the drug no more dangerous than alcohol.

“As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life. I don’t think it is more dangerous than alcohol,” Obama told The New Yorker’s David Remnick.

However, Obama clarified his comments, discussing both the societal impact of marijuana arrests, as well as the legal implications for comparing various drugs and legalizations.

“If marijuana is fully legalized and at some point folks say, ‘Well, we can come up with a negotiated dose of cocaine that we can show is not any more harmful than vodka,’ are we open to…

Weed, Pot, 420, Ganja, Green: Call it Legal Instead

Posted on Updated on

Cheri Speak

Pot Pioneers, Washington and Colorado States, have law makers across the country strongly eyeing protocols being put in place as recreational marijuana use begins blazing into the mainstream.

In both states (beginning in CO after Dec. 31st, 2013) it is legal for anyone — 21 and over, to purchase weed without worry or a MMJ card.

Just Say No Yes!

Although there continue to be many people that are still vehemently against any so-called “drug” use — let alone the prospect of legalization, there are growing numbers of cannabis supporters speaking up and when it comes to America’s voters, they are striking a blunt blow to the naysayers.

Next Please?

There is much speculation as to which State will be next to openly light-up, but all indications show the voters of California and New York are not far from rolling-up a fat one while they watch Colorado prepare to toke…
