prohibition-ends1We know that the United States Constitution is a document with built-in provision for change.  That’s what all of these amendments are for in the first place.  Rarely, though, has this been on display as rapidly as during the 14-year swing between the passage of Prohibition in 1919 and its repeal in 1933.  The text of the Twenty-first Amendment is reads (in part):

Section 1. The eighteenth article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.

With it, our national experiment in banning liquor, beer, and wine was over.  Though individual states were still welcome to make whatever laws they wished regarding booze, the United States itself would not get involved.  Prohibition was considered a failure, and over time various state laws too began to change in a more freeing direction.

The idea of Prohibition was an interesting one which had noble goals.  Unfortunately, however, it…

Will You Celebrate #smokeasuperbowlsunday?

bowl2-306x316

The XLVIII Superbowl showdown is taking place Sunday, February 2nd at the Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey but many are left wondering what to call the event. Should they call it the smoke bowl, the weed bowl, salad bowl, 420 bowl? Ultimately it doesn’t really matter as smokers and potheads everywhere (and by everywhere we mean Colorado and Washington) are commemorating the event via marijuana usage along with the usual excessive alcohol consumption and trans fats overdosing.

In order to know how many people plan on doing this we started a poll! Fill out our quick survey below and tell us how you will celebrate the upcoming Superbowl!

Weed, Pot, 420, Ganja, Green: Call it Legal Instead

Posted on Updated on

Cheri Speak

Pot Pioneers, Washington and Colorado States, have law makers across the country strongly eyeing protocols being put in place as recreational marijuana use begins blazing into the mainstream.

In both states (beginning in CO after Dec. 31st, 2013) it is legal for anyone — 21 and over, to purchase weed without worry or a MMJ card.

Just Say No Yes!

Although there continue to be many people that are still vehemently against any so-called “drug” use — let alone the prospect of legalization, there are growing numbers of cannabis supporters speaking up and when it comes to America’s voters, they are striking a blunt blow to the naysayers.

Next Please?

There is much speculation as to which State will be next to openly light-up, but all indications show the voters of California and New York are not far from rolling-up a fat one while they watch Colorado prepare to toke…

Monday Morning Memes #5

Posted on Updated on

Cheri Speak

I have read a few posts over the months about the non-virtues of memes. I see memes everyday around the internet. Some are great [funny, helpful, thoughtful and/or thought-provoking] and some are just plain mean [stupid, derogatory, racist, intolerant] and unnecessary.

I like the concept of memes. Maybe it’s because of my media background? Probably, I mean, a meme is like an advertisement or even an endorsement, if it’s done right.

When I create a meme, you know, one I’ve thought up myself? I put my web address on it and set it free. Do I get any traffic from adding it? I have no idea, but my blog name is being passed around a lot and that can’t be a bad thing.

What’s more is the messages I choose to propagate with my memes. I do after all get to choose it.

So now I get to tie my…

What is a Budtender?

Posted on Updated on

Cheri Speak

Everyone knows what a BARtender is, so if you think a minute, BUDtender should be easy enough to figure out and if you thought BARtenders got an earful of woes from their customers, you can also imagine those that a BUDtender hears. The difference is, while one happily tips a bottle of liquid poison, the other painstakingly ponders the best bud for you and whatever ails you.

Legalization has already taken hold in two states with more sure [and soon] to follow, in fact, according to Carlos — the Daily Doobie’s  “Budtender of the Month” for October, New York, should be next, For many who have been navigating the HIGHway to being legal, Oregon is still a head scratcher.

Check-out these BUDtenders making MMJ history!
